Winter League trials for all grades this week.

Posted on 30 April 2023

The Winter League tipped off with trial games last Thursday and Friday and this week there will be trials throughout the week  as Taree Basketball prepares for the competition proper to commence in the weeks ahead.

The competition afternoons/nights have been allocated the same way as the recently completed highly successful Summer League.

U18s for players born 2006 and 2007 will be played at Iron Arena on Monday afternoons starting at 4.00pm and with interest slow to gain momentum over the last week all players in this age group with current registrations have been advised of a free coaching/training session to be conducted from 4.00pm on Monday, 01 May 2023.

Tuesday, 02 May 2023 will see the A and B Women and A Men take the court to play their first trial games following the ANZAC Day last Tuesday.

The trial games last Thursday for U14’s for players born 2010 and 2011, U16’s for players born 2008 and 2009 and B and C Men all produced a clearer picture of how the competitions will look when the Winter League proper tips off and will continue again this week to rub off the rough edges.

Last Friday afternoon Super 10’s (Players born 2014 and 2015) and Super 12’s (Players born 2012 and 2013) tips off their non-competitive programs and they will continue this week with the addition of week one of the eight-week Aussie Hoops school term 2 program.

Aussie Hoops is Basketball Australia’s official introductory program, providing a fun and inclusive Basketball experience for 5-10-year-olds that serves as an introduction to a lifetime of involvement in the game. In addition to promoting healthy and active lifestyles, the program serves as a platform for social development and inclusion – fostering stronger and more vibrant communities and individuals.

New and returning participants wishing to join or continue their Aussie Hoops journey may do so by visiting Taree Basketball’s website, www.tareebasketball.com.au selecting the Registration tab and clicking on the Aussie Hoops Registration link.

Weekly game fees and annual individual registration fees apply to all competitions and development activities conducted by Taree Basketball.

The Taree Tornadoes junior representative teams competing in the 2023 Spalding Waratah North Eastern Junior League will be back on court over the first two weekends in May with the U16 girls and boys and U18 boys heading to Tamworth over the 06 and 07 May 2023 while the U12 and U14 girls and boys will continue their competition the following weekend.

The half way mark of the 2023 Spalding Waratah North Eastern Junior League shows that the Taree Tornadoes are returning exceptional results with all seven teams sitting in the top four on the ladder of their respective age divisions and with similar results throughout the third and fourth rounds will be finals bound late in July.
