Winter League Finals run and won.

Winter League Finals produced close and exciting basketball last week as teams across all divisions battled hard for supremacy.

Tuesday night games started the proceedings for the week with Wingnuts and CWA first up on court in the BW final.

Both teams competed well with Wingnuts gaining the upper hand late in the contest to record a 29 to 24 victory.

Next up was the AW final between Huskies and BBB and on the night, Huskies proved too strong for their opponents to run out winners 52 to 24.

The night was rounded out when Tarcoll and Wizards stepped onto court to battle for the AM title.

The lead changed sides several times in the contest through the first three quarters, then in the last term Wizards finished the stronger of the two teams to find themselves up 39 to 29 when the siren sounded for full time.

Thursday’s games started with the most exciting clash of the finals’ series when U14 teams Taree West and Mavs played a double overtime thriller.

This game had the big crowd at fever pitch when full time found both teams locked together on the scoreboard with the same situation occurring after an extra five minutes of play.

Another five minutes of extra time was placed on the scoreboard to decide the winners and during this term the lead swapped sides several times and in the shadows of the winning post, Mavs were ahead 47-46 when a foul by one of their players resulted in two free shots to Taree West, both of which found the bottom of the net for Taree West to win 48 to 47.

Railway Switchers and Midget Mafia continued the excitement in the U16 final with Railway Switchers getting home 42 to 32 after a very good game with members of both teams playing hard for the entire duration of the game.

The CM final between No Love and Ballin 247 produced another very hotly contested game where the favourites No Love had to battle hard to get over the top of Ballin 247.

The game produced basketball which kept the crowd well engaged in the action on court as they rode the waves of highs and lows from the sidelines.

No Love eventually prevailed 40-35 to claim the CM title.

The BM final between Duncan Donuts and Shooterz was the last game of the finals week and this battle continued the theme of the week which was hard-fought basketball played in the right spirit.

First it was Duncan Donuts with the lead, then Shooterz grabbed it and from then on it seesawed until late in the game when Shooterz opened up a mini gap to hit the full-time siren ahead by 7 points to record the victory 59 to 52.
